Status View 2000
The Status View 2000 is a screen-touch computer questionnaire. It guides you through a series of questions that gives the doctor preliminary information about your visual needs and health. This pre-screening system asks questions concerning current eye conditions, allergies, the type of glasses you might want or need, and situational vision problems that you experience such as trouble with lighting, driving, and leisure activities.
The Miracle of Laser Vision Correction
The Miracle of Laser Vision Correction is a video, which talks about near-sightedness and far-sightedness, astigmatisms and bifocal vision, and describes the Laser Vision Correction process and its advantages. This video details every step of the process and actually shows the process being performed.
Preliminary Testing
After watching the video you will be guided by a Technician to the preliminary testing room. With the result of the Status View 2000, a technician will ask you a few basic questions, concerning your current health condition and history, dietary and nutritional information, your history of contact lenses use and information on your glasses and what you use them for. The technician will proceed with the tests as follows:
1. Lensometer: reads the prescription of your glasses.
2. Auto Refractor: a computerized system determines your exact prescription -- without asking any questions!
3. Non-contact Tenometer: a computerized test to determine eye pressure.
 Auto Keratometer
The Auto Keratometer: a computerized instrument to measure the central, peripheral surface of each cornea.
Corneal Topographer
Corneal Topographer maps 7,000 points on the cornea. It can detect early stages of Kerataconus, which could rule you out for LASIK surgery.
Exam
In the exam room you will meet Dr. Tom or Dr. Irwin and they will give you the most thorough, most caring eye examination youve ever had. The list below describes just a few of the many tests that Azman Laser Vision Specialists use to establish for sure that you are a candidate for laser vision correction.
1. Contrast Sensitivity: tests the subtle differences in ability to distinguish contrasts, with each eye. It is a more discriminating way of testing vision and it also refines the old way of testing visual acuity.
2. Pupilometer: measures the size of the pupil. The size of your pupil could determine exactly which type of procedure is best for you.
3. Biomicroscope: gives a magnified view of the back and front surface of the eye and it is also assesses the health of the eye. Throughout the test, the patient can actually watch the examination on a TV monitor.
4. Tear Analysis: With three different dyes, doctors can test the tear quality and quantity. Knowing your tear quality and quantity help the doctor make an informed decision regarding your prospective surgery.
5. Phoropter: finds your exact prescription.
6. Opthalmoscope: a hand-held device that views the retina and arteries on the back of the eye.
7. Binocular Indirect Opthomoscope: gives a three dimensional view of retina.
8. Goldmann Tonometer & Non-contact Tonometer: tests for glaucoma by measuring pressure in the eye.
If it is determined that you are indeed a candidate for laser vision correction you will then meet your surgeon, who will confirm independently that you are ready for one hundred and twenty seconds that will change your life for the better! Azman Laser Vision Specialists is unique in this respect. Many laser vision centers do not allow you to meet your surgeon until just before your surgery.
